From Head to Heart

Are you ready to transform your conversations with kids
from head-scratching to heartwarming?

Today, let’s chat about a game-changing approach to communication with our kids—moving from head to heart.

You hold all the power to influence the energy in any situation, and trust me, it’s all about the energy!

Let’s unlock the secret to meaningful connections!

Picture this: instead of coming in hot with a “Why did you throw your chair at your teacher?” (cue the excuses!), try asking, “What’s going on for you?”

Not only does this shift the focus, but it also opens the door for genuine dialogue.

When I place my hand on my heart while asking, I’m signaling my intention to explore emotions rather than just facts.

It’s like saying, “Hey, I’m here to listen!”

By steering the conversation away from “head” answers—which are often defensive and crafted to escape trouble—we encourage a deeper connection.

Kids will begin to express their feelings authentically, fostering understanding and growth.

So, let’s ditch the interrogations and start engaging the heart.

This Week’s TurnAround is:  Head to Heart!

Alright, rockstar parents and educators, it’s time for a quick and lively challenge that can totally transform your conversations with your kids!

Are you ready? Let’s go! 🎉

1. The Heartfelt Check-in: Grab a moment today, and instead of jumping in with a “Why did you…” when your child misbehaves (and let’s be honest, we all have our moments), shift gears!  Try this: instead, ask, “What’s going on for you?” and place your hand on your heart. This little gesture isn’t just for show; it says, “I care!” Plus, it might just catch them off guard enough to spill their guts.

2. Channel Your Inner Detective: We’re looking for the juicy details, not the rehearsed, “I dunno.”
So come prepared with genuine curiosity—maybe even throw in a some playful humor to lighten the mood. “Did the chair suddenly become too heavy to lift? Tell me more!”

3. Reflect and Share: Afterwards, take a quick mental note: How did it feel to engage this way? Share your experience and a funny moment in the comments. We want to hear about those epic “Aha!” moments when your child actually opened up!

Just 30 seconds of your time can create a world of difference. And remember, this journey is all about connection, joy, and maybe even a few laughs along the way. Go on, give it a try! 🌟

Heart over head: unlock magic, mischief, and meaningful conversations!

And above all else, have some FUN with this!
