1. The Label Swap: Think of one label or diagnosis you’ve used (or heard) for your kid. Yep, that one! Now, get creative and replace it with something a little more… sparkly. Instead of “troublemaker,” how about “curious explorer” or “future detective”? Channel your inner wordsmith!
2. The Magic Question: Next, practice rephrasing your go-to “Why?” question. Instead of “Why did you do that?” try asking, “What’s going on for you?” But here’s the twist: say it with a dash of warmth and a sprinkle of curiosity. Imagine you’re on a fun scavenger hunt and your kid is the treasure map!
3. Reflect and Share: Take a moment to think about how this new approach made you feel. Did it ease tension? Did laughter replace frustration? Share your favorite replacement label and your new question in the comments. Let’s celebrate our shifts together!
