It’s time for another Turnaround Thursday STRONG START Challenge, and this week we’re diving into the world of new rules using my 1∙30∙9 Formula. Get ready to shake things up and create a classroom culture that fosters collaboration, inclusion, and empowerment for every single student.
So, what exactly is the 1∙30∙9 Formula? Well, it’s all about co-governance in the classroom.
Imagine a world where students have a voice in shaping the rules, policies, and activities within the classroom.
It’s a more democratic and inclusive learning environment that promotes a sense of ownership and responsibility among the students.
And hey, who wouldn’t want that?
Now, before you start panicking about changing the old rules, I want to assure you that we’re not throwing everything out the window.
But if you’re tired of playing whack-a-mole with behavior management and constantly dealing with the same disciplinary issues, then it’s time for a change.
I’ve seen the power of new rules in action, and let me tell you, it’s a game-changer.
I remember the first time I implemented this approach with my class,
and the response was incredible.
By involving the students in creating and agreeing to the rules, they felt a sense of ownership and accountability.
It was no longer a one-sided approach where I dictated the rules; it was a collaborative effort that brought everyone together.
And here’s the best part – not only did it create a psychologically safe and inclusive classroom, but it also gave me back some of my energy.
No more exhausting power struggles or constant battles to keep everyone in check.
The students took ownership of their behavior
and were more engaged in their education.
